The Soham rail disaster happened on 2nd June 1944 when a fire developed on the wagons of an ammunition train. The train was full of explosives. When the train approached Soham, frank Bridges opened the gates for the train to come through. Four brave men tried to stop the train. It worked. However, Frank Bridge died as well as James Nightall. We remember these 4 men because of what they did. Frank Bridges was a signalman in Soham many years ago.
