Bug Hotel

23rd June 2015
We now have our very own Bug Hotel at the back of the allotment near the compost bins. Many thanks to everyone who donated items for us to use. On Tuesday 23rd June, Lois Baker from Wicken Fen came and worked with one class from each year group to build the ‘hotel’. Each class made a layer, starting with heavier items such as bricks and tiles. They then used lighter materials such as hay and twigs stuffed into plastic tubes as they neared the top. Roof tiles finish off the bug hotel. We now look forward to welcoming lots of visitors over the coming months and seeing if we can identify them! Why not have a go at making a bug hotel in your garden over the summer? There are lots of ideas on the internet.
